AKDW Karate Camps 2011

This page has pictures from the 2011 AKDW Karate Camps. While an attempt is always made to get pictures of as many activities as possible, not all are able to be covered. Camp provides the students the opportunity to participate in many activities not possible in regular classes and to meet and interact with students and instructors from other classes.

A series of thumbnail pictures are given here. To see individual pictures in a larger size, click on the picture, then use your browser's "Back" button to return to this page.

The Eagle Garden
The Eagle Garden was initiated in 2008 in honor of the continuing efforts and dedication to the organization by Master Robert C. Lawlor. The garden is located on a small knoll on the edge of the main workout area near the Black Belt area of camp.
The Eagle One Picture
The pictue was done by a local artist and was presented to Master Lawlor at the opening of the Jr, Camp, June 11, 2011. It will hang in the main dojang in Watertown.
(More complete information will be added as it becomes available,)

Children's Camps (Day & Junior, Saturday & Sunday, June 11 & 12, 2011)

Gate Security is a standard fixture at all camps and monitors everyone entering and leaving the camp area. All campers sign in and learn where to go to start their camp experience. A group picture is taken of all those in attendance: campers, instructors, and assistants. The day started, at sunrise, with a little light rain, but for the rest of the day was just cloudy and the temperature was at a comfortable level.

Day Campers

Day Camp, ages 6-9, Saturday, June 11, 2011

The day campers had an enjoyable day in a number of activities, which included the PRT (Physical Readiness Training) Course, Combat Course, the ropes courses, and other projects.

Junior Camp, ages 10 - 13, Saturday and Sunday, June 11 and 12, 2011

The boys find a bunk and stow their equipment in the Black Belt Men's building. The girls use the Black Belt Women's building. Camp starts with the bow-in for students and instructors. Then, off to classes: three step sparring, S.A.F.E Program (Self Awareness For Everyone), basic forms, kicking, combat course, self-defense, PRT, Project Triangle, etc. For those staying overnight, special activities are done after dinner, and perhaps even a movie. Sunday morning, students attend the final classes, then bow-out and depart from camp. Most students believe that a dirty uniform by the end of camp is a badge of honor showing just how hard they worked in the classes and especially in he combat course.

Adult Camp, June 30, July 1, 2, & 3, 2011

The weather cooperated quite well, and everyone had a wonderful time. Some of the activities were: bow-in, project triangle, falling, kicking, archery, climbing wall, S.A.F.E. Program, weapons classes, combat course, etc.

Pictures of the adult camp will be coming in this space.
